Blog Hoppin' With Altered Pages

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
the Design Team at Altered Pages
has been working with PINK!

I LOVE pink, and I love Halloween,
so I thought to myself,
"self, how can we use pink with Halloween?"

Well, I came up with an answer, and I hope you like it.

I used collage sheet
"Screaming Skulls" for this tag, and use two image transfer techniques.

Here's a quick tutorial:

Ink tag with Distress Inks-
Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, and Worn Lipstick.
Stamp back ground stamp with Worn Lipstick,
and again (offset) with Vintage Photo.
Flick some water onto the tag.
Dry with heat gun, then ink the edges of the tag with a
little Vintage Photo.
Print the Screaming Skulls collage sheet twice.
Cut out the anatomy skulls.
Paint the image with some matte medium,
mod podge, or cheap Elmer's white glue,
and slap it face down onto the tag.
Let dry.
Once dry, wet the back of the image, and
very gently rub off the paper.
You'll be left with the ink transferred to the tag.
*this takes practice*
Now, rub some Worn Lipstick ink onto the second
anatomy image (you printed two, right?).
Slap a piece of packing tape on it. Burnish down well.
Flip it over and wet the back. Let it sit for a minute.
(alternatively, you could submerse it in water).
Gently rub the back of the image.
GENTLY, I tell you!
I didn't rub all of the paper off-
I wanted it to look old and messy.
Stick some lace across your tag
(I used Matte Medium).
Adhere your packing tape transfer over the
image that you transferred to the tag.
(again, I used matte medium)
Pretty cool, huh!
Give this a spritz of copper shimmer spray-
make your own or use what ever brand you love most!
(I used Stewart Superior)
Grab a white fabric flower, spray with your copper mist.
Dry it, and rub some black ink on it.
Get some beaded trim, and spray it as well.
Dry it, and adhere three pieces of it across the tag.
(I used Miracle Tape)

Stick the flower down on the tag with a good permanent glue.
(I used Quick Grab)
Glue another flower down, and then the skull.
I'll give this a few days to dry completely,
and adhere it to chipboard,
and then add one of our adhesive easels to the back.

And.....here's your wiener!
Sammy sticking his nose out.
